Now available in Maine! The Hologic Horizon DXA Scan provides "Gold Standard" comprehensive assessment to measure bone density. This is a clinical test for appropriate patients. You will have a quick visit with the physician to ensure it is appropriate to receive testing. Typically, over age 50 with risk factors. If over 65 and born female, you should obtain this test from your PCP instead because it is covered by Medicare. At the completion of the scan, you will receive immediate result with interpretation from the physician. Please note the whole body composition scan does provide a value for whole body bone which is the most appropriate test for the general population.
