How to Get to Aegle Radiant Health

Aegle is located in the McTeague Higby Lawyer building behind the VIP Auto in Topsham. When you enter the building, take a right at the stairs, take a second right at the small hallway, we are suite 20. If the door is closed, please have a seat. Doctor Cardella is usually on time and is likely finishing up with the previous visit. If you are waiting more than 5 minutes, please do send a text and knock on the door.

Do you have to join the membership?

You do not have to join our membership program to obtain a Dexa Body Composition, Dexa Bone Density, Vo2 or RMR test. You can obtain the testing fee per service. The membership offers a personalized lifestyle management plan that provides medically supervised weight management with a focus on creating lasting change and improved health through informed and sustainable choices. Testing fees are included in the membership.

When will I get my results?

You get your results immediately!

What can I expect for VO2?

You can expect to exercise to your max ability. The test starts easy and becomes progressively hard for about 15 minutes. You will be fitted for a mask prior to the test. We have a spinning bicycle, a recumbent bike,
Wear comfortable workout clothes and shoes. Please refrain from exercise for 12 hours prior to the appointment. Fast for 5 hours. Hydrate well the day before. Refrain from any stimulants on the day of the test. Long hair should be pulled back.

What can I expect for RMR?

The resting metabolic rate test is approximately 20 minutes long. You will be fitted for a mask prior to the test. Your nose will be covered. Fast for 5 hours before test. Refrain from any stimulants the day of the test.

What can I expect for DEXA?

The physician allows 1 hour for the visit. The process will take 10-20 minutes, while the scan will last 6 minutes to complete. Please wear comfortable clothes without metal. Be mindful of zippers and buttons. You will be asked to remove all jewelry. Do not take calcium supplements the day of the test.
You should be fasting for 5 hours before the test. If you must eat, total content less than 500 grams. You should have an empty bladder for scan. Any removable medical devices must be removed. No exercise for 8 hours prior to scan. Do not have any IV contrast for other radiography for 2 weeks prior to the appointment. Any possibility of pregnancy? If so, you must take home a text prior to your appointment. You are welcome to bring any past DEXA results to review.

Do I need an order for a Dexa?

No, we have a physician who will provide the order.

What is the difference between a body composition test and bone density test?

The bone density is clinically validated and ordered by a physician. It is a screening test for osteoporosis.
While a body composition test includes information about bone density, it is not an appropriate screening test for osteoporosis.
